The
Nano Nagle Camp of July 7-12 2002 consisted of games, activities
and heaps of fun.
On Sunday the ten leaders of the camp gathered in preparation
for what was to be four days of fun. Before we could blink,
it was Monday and all 12 kids were in our care as we drove down
to Gerroa. We arrived at the house, across the road from a simply
divine beach, to have lunch and prepare for an afternoon of
swimming at the local pool.
Tuesday consisted of an extreme amount of walking. We went to
the Minamurra Rainforest, undertaking a splendid stroll, surrounded
by all the beautiful sounds and natural environment a rainforest
has to offer. I think it would be fair to say we were all exhausted
upon reaching the beautiful rainfall, only to turn around and
tackle the trip back to the bus for a well-deserved lunch, before
we headed home for some beach soccer and sand castles.
Wednesday will be remembered for the famous Christmas in July
party which was held at the local hall. After playing in the
park outside everybody rushed inside to dive into an absolutely
enchanting dinner and a night of disco dancing and party games.
Thursday, being the saddest day of all, was the day everybody
made the two hour bus ride back to Cambelltown. However, only
half an hour into the trip we stopped at Kiama bowling alley
to enjoy a game of competitive bumper bowling, before we off
once again to Cambelltown. Upon reaching Cambelltown we presented
each and every child an award, complimenting them on their individuality,
before returning each one to their respectful homes.
Friday was left for the leaders to clean up and retreat back
to their familiar homes for a day of rest relaxation and recovery.
Overall, the kids seemed to have heaps of fun with the activities,
ensuring to tire each and every team leader present on the camp.
I think this camp was an extremely enjoyable occasion for all
involved.
